The Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies on Food (IMDEA Food) is a new Institute of Excellence in Food Research created by the Community of Madrid in coordination with universities, research centers and companies. IMDEA Food is a non-profit organization, constituted like a Foundation in November 2006 in the framework of the Regional Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation (IV PRICIT). The structure and legal nature of this Foundation are aimed to bridge the gap between research and the society.
IMDEA Food belongs to Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies Network promoted by the Madrid regional government (Comunidad de Madrid) to develop useful research for the society and of international scientific excellence.
IMDEA Food aims to become an international R & TD reference centre in the Food Area, as promoter of joint initiatives Science-Technology-Industry and of activities of the Public Administrations in R & TD and innovation.
