The Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies on Food (IMDEA Food) is nonprofit organization, sponsored and funded by the Community of Madrid, constituted as Foundation at 16th February, 2007. It main objective is the implementation of research activities, technological development and innovation in the area of nutrition, food and health.
Its activities are designed within tree areas which are related with each other and constitute an independent entity with a specific management:
Area 1. Science. Contribution to advanced aspects of scientific knowledge of the relationship between Health Food with special emphasis on chronic disease prevention and prioritizing gene-nutrient approach.
Area 2. Company. Contribution to economic development and competitiveness of the food industry through the design and validation of proven healthy products.
Area 3. Society. Contribution to reducing health care costs and the welfare of the population through epidemiological studies on diet, health and nutrition education programs.
IMDEA Food institute has currently 20 researchers on staff and it is located in the CLAID-PCM building at the Scientific Park of Madrid at Cantoblanco Campus, integrated at the Campus of International Excellence UAM-CSIC.
